Boston Girl Starter Pack: Coffee, Outfits, and Where I Live My Life

Moving to a new city is fun, exciting, and also… a lot to take in. Building routines and finding new places to call your own is overwhelming but once you have them you’re set and comfortable! But Boston has quickly started to feel like home in all the best ways. Between the cute coffee shops, the stylish boutiques, the parks, the nightlife, and the rituals I’ve built into my week—it’s a city that gives you options to feel grounded and main-character-y at the same time.

This isn’t a full city guide (yet), but if you're trying to figure out where to go, what to wear, and how to build a life here, this is your Boston girl starter pack—based on where I actually spend my time.

Coffee: Where I Romanticize My Morning Routine

Boston is a big coffee city. Whether I’m rushing to a meeting, taking a walk with friends, or just trying to make my life feel more aesthetically pleasing, coffee is always involved. Here’s how I rotate based on mood, vibe, and caffeine needs:

My Coffee Circuit:

  • Blank Street Coffee – This is my daily go-to. It’s quick, consistent, and has locations in all the right neighborhoods. I can literally mobile order while brushing my hair.

  • Tatte – If I want to feel a little more put-together or meet a friend for a walk-and-talk. It’s the place for a cute coffee moment—where you linger for a bit before starting your day.

  • Thinking Cup – Close to Boston Common. Cozy, slightly old-school, and a great spot for journaling or reading if I need a second to regroup.

  • George Howell – Elevated coffee if you’re particular about espresso. Great for work meetings or quiet afternoons.

  • Broadsheet (Cambridge) – A favorite if I’m crossing the river. Minimal, trendy, and genuinely excellent coffee.

  • Render Coffee – Tucked-away and charming. There’s a back patio if the weather’s nice, and it feels like a neighborhood secret.

Most weekends start with a latte in hand —just wandering, chatting, dog-watching, and letting the city unfold — before heading to my evening plans.

Outfits: Where I Shop and What I Wear

Boston fashion doesn’t have one specific style, but there’s definitely a common theme: casual elevated. People dress like they could go to an office, dinner, or workout class—but not necessarily all at once. I’m a little different - I like color and cute peices you can’t find everywhere so I try to explore the boutiques more.

Where I Shop IRL:

  • West Coast Ivy (Beacon Hill) – This is my favorite boutique in the city. If I need a last-minute dinner outfit, date night top, or something cute that feels a little different, I start here.

  • Covet (Beacon Hill & Back Bay) – A curated consignment dream. I’ve found everything from vintage denim to barely worn designer bags. If you like the thrill of the find, go here.

  • Newbury Street – The ultimate Boston shopping walk. Start at the top for luxury (Rag & Bone, Chanel, Loro Piana), and make your way down to more everyday stops like Zara, Abercrombie, Aritzia, and some great local boutiques.

  • Where I Wear It:

If it’s warm out and I’m feeling althetic I’m in biker shorts and a cute top walking around the Esplanade - or walking Newbury in a sundress. If I have dinner plans, I’m probably in a mini dress with heels or a bright romper, for casual — jeans, belt, heels, cute to

Where I Actually Spend My Time

There are a million places to explore in Boston, but here are the spots I keep returning to—the ones that have become part of my rhythm here.

For Daytime Wandering:

  • Boston Common – I walk through here multiple times a week usually on the way to the gym or work. I sit, dog-watch, people-watch, and occasionally romanticize my life a little too hard. Often have my breakfast sandwhich and latte here before work.

  • Boston Public Garden – For when I need a soft moment. The willow trees, the ducks, the benches—it’s giving Jane Austen meets city girl reset.

  • The Esplanade – Right along the Charles River. Whether I’m walking solo or meeting a friend, this place is my go-to. Runners everywhere, boats floating by, perfect views.

Picnic-Approved Spots:

  • Boston Common (again) – Great energy, easy to access, and always buzzing with activity.

  • The Esplanade – Slightly quieter, and right by the water. Bonus: incredible golden hour.

  • Boston Public Library Courtyard – Underrated. Quiet, beautiful, and feels like a secret garden in the middle of the city.

🍸 Where I Go Out (When I Want a Drink and a Vibe)

Boston’s nightlife is underrated. You just have to know where to go based on the night, the crowd, and the mood.

Where I’ve Been Going Out Lately:

  • Seaport – If I’m going out on a Friday, I’m probably here. It’s polished, upscale, and walkable between dinner and drinks.

  • Southie – For late nights, dive bars, or easy drinking. It’s more casual but still high energy.

  • Downtown – For late late nights, dancing, or anything spontaneous. It’s more clubbing and going out for a full night.

Drinks with a View (or a Vibe):

  • Moxies (Seaport) – Clean aesthetic, always packed, and the drinks are surprisingly good.

  • Raffles (Back Bay) - A gorgeous spot in Back Bay for elevated drinks. Once of my favorite views of the city.

  • The Sporting Club (Omni Hotel) – Very “night out in your twenties” energy. Grown but fun - great for sporting events!

  • ReelHouse (Seaport) – Waterfront views and strong cocktails. It’s a summer classic.

  • SAVR (Seaport) – Espresso martinis that deserve their own blog post. Always a hit.

Where I’ve Been Eating:

  • Marcelino’s (Seaport) – A new favorite. Sophisticated, but still lively.

  • Zurito (Beacon Hill) – Tapas, wine, and one of the cutest interiors.

  • Lolita (Back Bay) – Always a good time. The tacos are solid, but let’s be honest—I'm there for the vibe.

  • Ocean Prime (Seaport)– If I want to feel expensive. The caviar deviled eggs are unmatched. And in summer, their raw bar has a caviar hot dog that should not work… but it does.

  • Alamo Drafthouse (Seaport) – A movie theater with a full menu and bar. You can split a bottle of wine, share a pizza, and watch a movie in actual comfort. It’s fun for a midweek date or girls’ night reset.

Final Thoughts

Boston feels like a city that lets you build your life how you want to live it. You can dress up, slow down, brunch hard, walk miles, or dance until 2 AM—and all of it fits. I’ve found that the more I lean into my routines (and my delusions), the more at home I feel here.

This is just the starter pack—more deep dives and full guides coming soon. But if you're new to Boston or just trying to reset how you experience it, start here.

And if you see me at Blank Street ordering an iced latte with almond milk at 8 AM on a Tuesday… just know I’m on my way to romanticize something.
